Shillong, Aug 2: Parking fee collection through electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) are being implemented in designated parking spaces in three Shillong neighbourhoods.
The new system came into force from Saturday in Wahthapbru, Mawkhar and Jaiaw Langsning.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner issued an order on July 31 partially modifying an earlier order of the same date and acting in pursuance of a July 28 order issued by the Director of Urban Affairs.
In Wahthapbru, the designated parking stretches run from Bawri Office towards Ya Motphran Enterprise, the adjacent two-wheeler parking area, the stretch from Ya Motphran Enterprise to Kyndiah Medicos and from Kyndiah Medicos up to Supreme Furniture along GS Road.
In Mawkhar, the listed parking spaces include Mawkhar-A near the wall of the Community Hall, Mawkhar-B along the Mawkhar-Jaiaw Shyiap Road and Mavis Dunn Road and Mawkhar-C near the St Joseph Catholic Church. The order also lists parking pockets along the stretch from the office of the Syiem of Hima Mylliem towards the office of U Nongsain Hima.
The designated parking spaces in Jaiaw Langsning include areas near Dr Joy’s residence and Liberty Lyngwa’s residence in Block 2, along Synod’s Hostel, near Robert’s Hospital and along the stretch from Robert’s Hospital towards Jaiaw Presbyterian Church.
