Shillong, Jun 29: The body of one Watson Kyndait, a resident of Tuber Kmai Shnong, East Jaintia Hills District remained unclaimed at the Shillong Civil Hospital morgue.
Ri Bhoi police in a statement said the individual was brought to the Byrnihat Public Health Centre (PHC) on June 1 by unknown individuals suffering from high fever. Due to the seriousness of his condition and the lack of an accompanying attendant, he was referred to Shillong Civil Hospital for more advanced medical treatment, escorted by the police.
Kyndait passed away on June 28 at around 9:45 PM while still receiving treatment. Since then, his body has been placed in the morgue as no relatives or claimants have come forward, police said.
Authorities have been able to identify the deceased’s mother, Pyndap Kyndait. The Ri Bhoi police have issued a public appeal urging any concerned relatives or individuals with information to come forward.
