Shillong, May 7: The computer centre of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division, organised ‘Digital India Awareness University Workshops’ featuring a Digital India talkshow-cum-interactive session at NEHU Shillong today.
The programme aimed to create awareness about key digital initiatives of the central government that are increasingly relevant to academic administration, examination systems and digital governance. The workshop witnessed the participation of faculty members, officers, staff, researchers and university students.
NEHU Pro Vice-Chancellor Sumarbin Umdor attended the programme as the chief guest. In his inaugural address, Prof Umdor reflected on the vast transformation brought about by the digital revolution in India. He stated that during his student days there existed a huge disparity between the resources available in metropolitan cities such as Delhi and those accessible in Shillong and other remote regions. However, with the advent of the digital wave, resources and information are now available simultaneously to everyone, irrespective of geographical location.
