Shillong, Apr 7: Altogether 1,313 successful learners of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional centre Shillong were conferred with degrees, diplomas, and certificates during the 39th convocation held today.
The convocation ceremony was held at the convention centre of IGNOU campus in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi and in 51 regional centres across the country.
Vice President CP Radhakrishnan delivered the convocation address. During the ceremony, IGNOU conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates to more than 3.24 lakh students.
The Vice President also presented PhD degrees and gold medals to the top-performing students.
As the guest of honour in Shillong, Martin Luther Christian University Vice Chancellor Dr. Ashiho A Mao stressed the rapid changes in education, highlighting the importance of innovation, adaptability, and leadership by institutions like IGNOU.
He also stated that the vision of Viksit Bharat is an India where every citizen has access to learning, helping to ensure that no talented mind is left behind due to resource constraints.
Mao reminded the graduates that their journey does not end here, but their efforts will elevate their families, communities, and eventually, the nation.
