Shillong, Mar 25: Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar today distributed financial assistance under his discretionary grant to various institutions and organizations at Lok Bhavan.
A total amount of Rs 99.70 lakh was disbursed to 23 beneficiaries belonging to various sections of the society.
The recipients included cultural organisations such as the Harmini Preparatory Music Academy and the Biate Cultural Organisation of Meghalaya.
Moreover, several educational institutions were also beneficiaries of the grant. Notable among them were Capt. Williamson Sangma State University, Kenbahkunmynsaw UP School, Meghalaya Shikha Samati, Seng Khasi Secondary School, Vidya Bharati Vidyalaya, Riwar College, Saraswathi Education & Welfare Trust, Meghalaya Hindu Mission Secondary School, Ramakrishna Mission Secondary School and Shillong Vidyalaya Secondary School.
Additionally, community organisations were also given the grant. These are Dorbar Shnong Mawlyngbna, Synjuk Ki Hima Arliang Wah Umiam, Dorbar Shnong Mawbah, Phira Clan, Seng Khihliang, and Dorbar Shnong Loomiongkjam.
Social organisations, Student’s Experience in Inter-State Living and Gorkha Thakurbari and sports bodies such as Playfit Football Coaching Centre were also beneficiaries of the grant.
The Governor emphasised the importance of such support in strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting inclusive development. He expressed confidence that the assistance would contribute meaningfully towards educational advancement, cultural preservation, and community welfare in Meghalaya.
