Shillong, Mar 25: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Shillong, organised an awareness programme at Clear Springs School, focused on cleanliness and balanced nutrition, aligning with the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Poshan Abhiyaan.
The students participated in quiz and drawing competitions designed to promote key messages about hygiene and nutrition. To encourage continued interest, prizes were awarded to winners, highlighting the importance of recognition in fostering participation.
Palvy Dora Lyngdoh, IEC specialist, Urban Affairs Department, conducted an engaging presentation on sanitation and responsible waste management. She emphasised the importance of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, pointing out the need for proper handling and disposal of waste. By promoting concepts like ‘my waste, my responsibility’ and zero littering, she encouraged students to adopt environmentally friendly habits.
Odalin Sumer, a Medical Health Officer from East Khasi Hills, highlighted the significance of a balanced diet. She promoted the inclusion of locally sourced nutritious foods in meals, aiming to enhance the health and concentration of adolescents.
Principal of the school, Majella Badwar appreciated the initiative and expressed satisfaction that the students gained valuable knowledge on both hygiene and nutrition, which are essential for their overall development.
The programme witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, creating an engaging platform for spreading awareness on hygiene and healthy living.
