Shillong, Feb 24: Aihun K Lyngdoh Tron has been honoured with the ‘Best Journalist of Meghalaya’ award at the 20th Media Excellence Awards 2026 organised by the Media Federation of India in New Delhi.
The award was presented by Prof. Sanjay Dwivedi, former Director General of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), senior journalist Prateek Trivedi and Dr. L.P. Sharma, Deputy Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
The award ceremony was held at the PLB Auditorium, ITO, New Delhi, under the national vision of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” on Saturday.
Aihun, a resident of Umlyngka, Upper Shillong reports for Mawphor and its sister newspaper Highland Post as a senior correspondent from East Jaintia Hills district. The honour recognises her dedication, commitment, and impactful journalism in the political and social sectors.
The event was attended by the federation’s National President Arun Sharma, General Secretary Dharmveer Anand, Senior Vice President Ashish K. Singh, Press Club of Sikkim General Secretary D.R. Dulal and journalists from more than 24 states.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Upper Shillong circle congratulated Aihun for her remarkable achievement. This recognition is not merely a personal milestone but a source of immense pride for the entire locality and the state as a whole, Circle President Kitboklang Nongphlang said.
The FKJGP said that her contributions reflect a sincere dedication to the welfare of the people in the state. The organisation extended its wishes for her health and well-being and also looks forward to her continued service to the people.
