Nongpoh, Dec 20: Former Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh has commended Ri Bhoi police for their decisive actions against illegal activities and said their effort is not just about enforcing the law but playing a crucial role in nurturing a safe environment for commuters and the general public.
Lyngdoh was speaking at a Pre-Christmas celebrations organised by the office of the Superintendent of Police for orphans under the care of the Social Welfare Department, in Nongpoh yesterday.
He said the police significantly contribute to ensuring the safety and security of individuals travelling along the national highway in the district.
Lyngdoh urged the police department to maintain their commitment to combating social evils. By remaining vigilant and dedicated in their duties, police can help uphold peace and harmony within the community. This commitment is essential for the overall progress of society, allowing it to thrive, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Vivekanand Singh Rathore, magistrates, leaders of social and youth organisations, senior police officers of the district attended the celebration.
Lyngdoh said such an initiative provides encouragement, happiness, and a sense of belonging to the children as they prepare to welcome Christmas and the New Year.
