Shillong, Dec 16: The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has promulgated an order under Section 163 BNSS prohibiting heavy loaded vehicles, carrying more than 9 tonnes, from plying along the Thangsning-Thynroit-Mawpyrshong Road and the Mawkynrew-Mynsang-Jatah Road.
This order is necessitated following reports that overloaded vehicles are plying through the above mentioned roads within Mawkynrew block causing significant and progressive damage to PWD and village roads, which will lead to continued deterioration and increased safety risk for local commuters and safety and security of public property and villagers if not addressed.
Anyone found violating this order would be liable for legal action under Section 223 of BNS and other relevant provisions of the law. This order comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force until further orders.
