Shillong, Aug 23: Cadets of 42 Meghalaya Battalion, Shillong Group observed National Space Day at North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Umiam.
Thirty-five senior and junior wing cadets from Khasi and Jaintia Hills of the State were briefed by NESAC scientists on the role of space technology in disaster management, weather forecasting, communication, and regional development.
The cadets also toured key facilities and learned about satellite applications and geospatial technologies.
The Commanding Officer highlighted the importance of science and technology in nation-building and encouraged cadets to explore careers in the space sector. The visit inspired cadets to take pride in India’s achievements and deepen their interest in scientific advancement.
It was also an important opportunity for young minds from all over Meghalaya state to be exposed to the latest advancements in space applications and it is meant to inspire children from far flung areas and underprivileged backgrounds to aspire for careers in STEM subjects.
