Candidates from different parties in Ri-Bhoi continued to file their nomination papers as candidates for the February 27 election.
Today, nine candidates have filed their nominations in the district.
These comprised five from the Trinamool Congress – sitting Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, Saralin Dorphang for Mawhati, Girlbert Nongrum for Umsning, Longsing Bey for Nongpoh and Sunmoon Marak for Jirang.
Others comprised Dr Ricky J Syngkon, the Voice of the People candidate for Umsning, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate for Nongpoh, Marian Maring, Roswell Shadap, the People’s Democratic Front candidate for Mawhati and independent candidate for Jirang, Fircasting Nongrang.
