West Jaiñtia Hills police today organised a rally for Village Defence Parties (VDPs) of the district to brief members on the roles and responsibilities, power and functions as well as the procedures and legal framework pertaining to the VDPs.
The event was organised by the office of the Superintendent of Police and was attended by Deputy Commissioner BS Sohliya, the SP C Syrti and others.
Around 400 people attended the programme. A discussion session was also held in which the members of the VDPs were given the opportunity to raise their queries and doubts.
