The Director of School Education and Literacy, Swapnil Tembe, has ordered an urgent inquiry into the appointment of a teacher at a school in West Garo Hills that had allegedly been done without following laid down norms.
The school in question is the Gasbari Non Government Lower Primary School in the Daddengre sub-division.
According to at least two complaints, the teacher had been appointed to the post despite not having cleared the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (MTET).
Tembe has instructed the Sub-Divisional School Education Officer to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a detailed report in a week’s time.
