Shillong Jun 2: Four children who reportedly went missing from Assam’s Jorhat district were found in Shillong and handed over to their families, police said today.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem said the four children came to Shillong for sightseeing on May 31, without informing their parents.
He said a search operation was conducted involving a team from the Sadar Police Station along with officers from the Women Police Station. The children were found at the JK International Hotel in Police Bazar. A 26-year-old male adult was also found with them, he added.
During the inquiry, the girls revealed that they had travelled together for sightseeing. Syiem said the children disclosed that they were friends, with two of them being cousins.
The children were handed over to a police team from Jorhat, along with the children’s families at the Sadar Police Station yesterday, he said.
