Three men suspected of being involved in the trade and supply of heroin were arrested from the Shillong Cantonment area yesterday.
Following the receipt of information, police detained one Rohit Mattu and found him to be carrying 10.26g of heroin in a soap box. On further inquiries, it was learnt that Mattu worked for one Ansh Sher Gill, alias Suraj, at a hardware store in Cantonment near the Jowai Stand and that he is the main supplier of drugs in the area.
Gill was subsequently detained. Another associate detained by police, Raman Raina, led the authorities to a house in Raid Laban where 15 soap boxes containing 152.26g of heroin was found.
Another accused person, Rohit Honda, is on the run.
