Two boys aged 10 and 11 drowned in Sohmynting, West Jaintia Hills while swimming in an under construction drinking water tank today afternoon.
The drinking water tank was recently dug and has yet to be completed.
Four boys had gone to the tank out of which two decided to take a bath while the victims went to swim.
After the two friends did not come out of the water the remaining two informed members of the public and tried to fish them out. However, the water was muddy and the duo could not be rescued. A JCB earthmover was then brought in to help and the victims’ bodies were retrieved.
