Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today said there are 1254 beneficiaries under the various schemes of CM Elevate with a total approximate amount of Rs. 56 crore, which will create about 50,000 jobs.
Speaking at the CM Elevate Conclave, 2024 held at U Soso Tham Auditorium here, Sangma said that the state government is working with a mission to take Meghalaya to be among the Top 10 states in the country.
According to the Chief Minister, people of the state are already enterprising, doing things and carrying on activities even as he added that CM Elevate is aimed at creating a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to grow and flourish through financial assistance, entrepreneurship development and creation of jobs.
According to him that the government intends to have a Rs. 10,000 Crore private investment in the next five years while at the same time the government has passed the new Industrial Policy.
According to him, in matter of two years since the programme started there has been over 181 beneficiaries under PRIME – Agri vehicle.
“Different self-help groups today in different parts of the state are getting 45 per cent subsidy to buy these vehicles and now are not only able to transport their product, but they are also able to help other farmers transport their products,” Sangma said.
The Chief Minister also said that the state is moving towards achieving $ 6.6 billion in the next financial year and slowly and steadily it will move towards going at the target of the $10 billion economy.
On the Village Data Volunteers (VDVs), Sangma called them the ears and the eyes of the government.
The Chief Minister informed that these VDVs will provide services to citizens at their doorstep besides collecting data required for government decision making, acting as a trusted intermediary between the government and the community, while fostering good governance, accurate data collection and efficient service delivery so that development is visible and equitable.
Launching the Meghalaya State Floriculture Mission Sangma said that it significant and a major step towards agricultural prosperity and rural development.
He informed that under this Mission in the initial phase there will be 3,100 beneficiaries and a projected budget of Rs. 240 crore over three years.
