The East Khasi Hills District Mental Health Programme today observed the World Mental Health Day at the KJP Assembly Conference Hall on the theme “Make Mental Health & Well-Being for All a Global Priority”.
Chairman cum District & Session Judge District Legal Services Authority Noor Khan and Dr. Y.E Phira, Additional DHS (Research) attended the programme as guests.
Speaking at the programme, Khan lauded the efforts of the district mental health programme for mobilising efforts in support of better mental health for all.
He said observation should also ensure that a mental health issues is highlighted in the public consciousness.
Khan highlighted the role of laws and rights in relation with mental health and also pointed out the vital role that teachers play in monitoring the mental health of the students.
During the programme, resource persons spoke on topics, Role of Psychiatrist & MIMHANS in Mental Health, Role of IPS, Meghalaya Branch in the field of Mental Health, Social causes/issues in relation with Mental Health, Role of Police regarding people with Mental Health and Mental Health Act, 2017.
Prizes were also distributed to the winners of the poster and slogan competition organised by the office.
