World Hearing Day was observed in various districts of the states on March 3 along with the rest of the country.
Awareness and screening programmes were conducted in Civil Hospital Shillong, Ganesh Das Government M&CH Hospital Shillong, Jowai Civil Hospital, Tura Civil Hospital, Nongstoiñ Civil Hospital and Nongpoh under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness.
The theme of this year’s World Hearing Day is “Changing Mindsets: Empowering yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all”
The main focus this year is on noise induced hearing loss which is one of the major causes of hearing loss.
