A five-day workshop on “Medical Textile Products from Comilla Cotton and Enterprise Development” concluded at the College of Community Science (CCS), Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Tura yesterday.
The workshop aimed to impart knowledge and hands-on experience to participants on the utilisation of Comilla cotton for medical textiles and its potential for entrepreneurship.
Participants were actively engaged in practical sessions, gaining hands-on experience in processing the cotton scouring, combined scouring and bleaching, manufacturing medical textile products, ear-bud making and exploring branding and marketing strategies for the developed products.
The sessions provided in-depth knowledge on enterprise development and the legal aspects of intellectual property rights.
Dean of the college, Dr. Jyoti V. Vastrad, who is also the Principal Investigator of the Comilla Cotton project, highlighted the workshop’s role in empowering local entrepreneurs and advancing the use of cotton in the medical textile industry.
Meanwhile, the Department of Human Development and Family Studies of the college concluded its capacity building programme for Anganwadi Workers in Early Childhood Care and Education.
Nutritionist of the District Programme Office, ICDS Cell, Tura Emma Chongme D Sangma who attended the closing ceremony appreciated the initiative and highlighted the crucial role of Anganwadi workers in delivering quality early childhood care at the grassroots level.
