The North East Outreach Tour for JioMAMI’s colorists workshop came to a close on April 13 with an immersive session for the students of Mass Communication Department at St Anthony’s College, Shillong, and film directors, editors and film enthusiasts.
The audience connected with director Faraz Ali, acclaimed cinematographer Mahesh Aney and colorist Mahak Gupta after the screening of their film Shoebox for a deeply immersive conversation on the process of colour grading the film.
The JioMAMI team has travelled to Dr Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Institute of Film and Television, Changsari, Manipur State Film and Television Institute, Imphal, and conducted a knowledge sharing session on DI and colour grading in films for the members and special invitees of Guwahati Cine Club, Guwahati.
Attendees are now looking forward to applying for the upcoming online workshop. Registration forms can be accessed on the JioMAMI website and the entire workshop is for free. Fifteen participants will be shortlisted based on their forms and possible work samples to attend the online workshop. Of the 15 mentees, only one will be selected for an all-expenses paid trip to Mumbai to shadow the colour grading process on a live film project and to interact with the makers and the colouring artists of the film.
“Our intent is to create an ecosystem that nurtures talent by reaching out to various parts of India through thoughtfully designed skill development programmes. GMM fellow Shyam Bora’s winning pitch showed great promise, and we were happy to collaborate on it and also fund the Shadow Program part of it,” Anupama Bose, artistic director of JioMAMI’s Year Round Programme, said.
