In a heart-wrenching incident, a 21-year-old woman drowned in the Umtru River in Ri-Bhoi yesterday.
The incident occurred near the Panitola Power House, as reported by the Fire and Emergency Service. The incident unfolded during a picnic, where Pooja Sarkar lost her life.
According to the preliminary information, Sarkar, from Guwahati, had come to the spot for a picnic with a group of friends. During the outing, tragedy struck when she ventured into the river, slipped and fell.
