The FKJGP and GSU of Williamnagar in East Garo Hills have written to the Deputy Commissioner seeking action against a contractor due to the delay in the completion of the Rongon bridge.
The bridge in question falls across the Rongon River and connects Rongongre and other villages to Williamnagar.
“The bridge is the lifeline for many people living across the Rongon River and the delay is causing serious problems to them. The said contractor has halted the work since last year and it is now taking too long to complete,” said the NGOs through their complaint.
The NGOs through their complaint have now demanded the early completion of the bridge and gave 15 days to the contractor to restart work on the incomplete bridge.
