With an aim to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, the office of the District TB Officer in East Garo Hills today distributed food baskets to patients bearing the disease.
This is part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, where any individual, political party, NGO, business, etc can come forward to adopt TB patients for a minimum of six months and maximum for three years and support them nutritionally or in other ways, such as with diagnostics, vocational training and more.
Williamnager MLA Marcuise N Marak was present on the occasion today as chief guest. He is supporting 50 TB patients with nutritional food baskets.
So far, 82 patients have been adopted by the ‘Nikshay Mitras’ who have come forward in providing food baskets to the TB patients, including Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma, Housing Officer BK Marak and others.
