After a gap of more than three years, the office of the traditional head of Raid Marwet has decided to revive the traditional event known as the Sohjer Festival, which will be held from January 17 to 20 at 9 Mile, Baridua village in Ri-Bhoi.
Informing the press, Ken Syiem, the traditional chief, informed that Raid Marwet follows traditional rituals to offer prayers to the local deity for his blessings throughout the year, especially for the harvest.
The Sohjer Festival was halted in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but, this year, Raid Marwet will revive the festival with various rituals and offerings of prayers, traditional dances, display of traditional dresses as well as different competitions and entertainments.
