World Music Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Jowai at the District Library Auditorium in Mynthong, Jowai organised by the office of Deputy Commissioner today.
The celebration brought together musicians from across the district featuring performances by ELEVB Choir, Magnificent obsession Jowai, Reggae Collective, Larger than 90, TSEVA Eniba War, Horealda Pasweth, Effie VanroiRyngkhlem, KER E and the winner and finalist of inter school solo singing competition.
Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh said today is not just about music, it is about coming together as a community. He emphasised that across generations, backgrounds and experience people unite to celebrate the language that connects everyone.
He stated that whether a child is humming a lullaby, a teenager discovering a favourite band or an elder who grew up cherishing timeless classics, music plays an integral role in shaping emotions and memories.
Singh emphasised that music holds the power to heal, to inspire and to unite. He said that music tells stories when words fall short, lifts people in moments of joy and comfort in times of sorrow.
