A week-long national workshop on ‘Application of Statistics in Social Science Research’ organised by the Department of Statistics, Shillong College began today.
Organised in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell the purpose of the workshop is to understand the role that Statistics plays as a tool in various fields of research work, data analysis and deriving conclusive fact finding.
NEHU head of department of Statistics, Dr SK Jha who attended the function said that Statistics is the Mathematics of inductive reasoning for knowledge discovery and emphasised the need to learn, understand and use statistics.
Principal of the college, Dr. E. Kharkongor urged teachers to make the best use of the information to be disseminated in these seven days as this will better equipped teachers to help students with research work which is a necessity of the FYUP.
