The problem of drug addiction and the trade in illegal narcotics will be one of the issues raised by the Voice of the People Party (VPP) during the autumn session of the Assembly, which will start on Friday.
Speaking to Highland Post today, the VPP’s MLA for Mawlai Brightstarwell Marbaniang said that even though the VPP is disappointed that the session will only last for a handful of days, it will try its best to raise important issues during the time available.
When asked, he did not confirm whether the opposition party would also raise the matter of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
“We are looking forward to taking up the public’s voice in the house on various issues even though we will get very limited time in this short session,” Marbaniang said.
He stressed that drug menace has become a concern issue in the entire state since it is no longer confined only in the cities but has also spread to the outskirts and villages and needs to be immediately addressed.
