Intensifying its pressure for suspending all recruitments in the State government till the State job reservation policy and roster system were reviewed by an expert committee, the Voice of the People Party (VPP) has decided to stage a sit-in demonstration on May 17 at the parking lot near the Additional Secretariat from 10 am to 4 pm.
Informing this today, VPP spokesperson Batskhem Myrboh said the protest was called in view of the adamant attitude and lack of response of the NPP-led MDA government to the demand of the party on the need to put on hold all the recruitment process in the State “till the State job reservation policy and the implementation of the roster system is reviewed by an expert committee.”
Urging party workers and the public to participate in the protest to put pressure on the government, Myrboh said, “This government is trying to make itself immune to logic, fairness and public concerns.”
He also informed that other agitation programmes will be subsequently announced after the proposed sit-in demonstration.
It may be recalled that the VPP had on May 12 given a 48-hour ultimatum to the MDA government to issue an official notification putting on hold all job recruitments in the State government till the roster system and job reservation policy are relooked and reviewed.
Leaders of the VPP led by its general secretary Ricky A J Syngkon on the same day formally submitted a letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma through Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on the matter.
