The Voice of the People Party (VPP) will extend issue based support to the INDIA bloc in the Lok Sabha.
VPP president Ardent M. Basaiawmoit today said that his party is firmly committed to the ideals of secularism and therefore will not be part of the BJP-led NDA.
“We will sit in the opposition in the Lok Sabha. But we are ready to give issue-based support to the INDIA bloc whenever it is needed,” he said.
Basaiawmoit also said that VPP would not compromise on its ideologies and would also stand for the rights of the citizens and minorities in the country.
It may be mentioned that Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon of the VPP won the recent Lok Sabha election from Shillong with a thumping margin.
He secured 5,71,078 votes against sitting Congress MP Vincent Pala who polled 1,99,168 votes.
