VPP general secretary Dr. Ricky A J Syngkon has written to Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh urging the State government to relook and revise the stipend of medical students.
Syngkon brought to the attention of the minister some pertinent matters concerning the welfare and well being of medical students of the State pursuing their studies in various medical institutions across the country.
“The medical institutions that our students are pursuing are located in towns and cities of the country. The cities in the country are classified into Tier 1, 2 and 3 categories by the government and the cost of living also varies accordingly besides others. From the party we wish to suggest that it would be prudent on the part of the government to relook and revise the stipend of the students according to the location of their medical institute,” Syngkon said.
The VPP leader also stated that stipend to the medical students has not yet been disbursed to them till date causing hardship to them. He also urged the health minister to look into this matter and take immediate action to address the issue.
