The Voice of the People Party (VPP) today asked the State government to keep a proper record on the displaced persons who sought refuge in Meghalaya in view of the current ethnic violence in Manipur.
VPP general secretary Dr. Ricky A J Syngkon today submitted a letter to Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong on the matter.
The VPP in its letter appreciated the State government for the “quick and warm gestures shown in rendering all kinds of humanitarian support to our fellow beings from Manipur who have turned into refugees by the recent communal violence”.
“However, we request the government to maintain proper records of all the refugees coming from Manipur to our State and ensure that they return to their State once peace and tranquility is restored and not to make our State their permanent residence,” the VPP said.
