According to the Election Commission, since Meghalaya is known for its cleanliness, voters have been urged to make it clean, green and eco-friendly and moreover a free, fair and incident less election.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State B D R Tiwari today informed that the first two saplings will be planted by the first two voters in every polling station.
He also said that cleaning drives in all polling stations have been carried out by respective district election officers through the village durbars and the community.
Meghalaya will go to the polls in the first phase of voting tomorrow for two seats – Shillong and Tura.
