Meghalaya lost their Vijay Hazare Trophy one day tournament match to Jharkhand by 192 runs in Kolkata today.
After losing the toss and being made to bat first, Jharkhand amassed 321/2 in their 50 overs as Meghalaya had scant success in the field.
Eight bowlers were used in all but only two found success – Dippu Ch Sangma (1/20) and Lerry Sangma (1/32). Dippu took the first wicket in the 11th over but it was not until the 46th that the second and final one fell.
The chase was equally difficult as Meghalaya were reduced to 10/4 before Punit Bisht and Riboklang Hynniewta put on 53 for the fifth wicket. Bisht hit 50 of those runs as Hynniewta did his job by just sticking around. The guest professional smacked his half-century off just 42 balls, with six fours and two sixes before being dismissed.
Hynniewta was eventually out for 11 but Lerry (27) and another guest professional in the form of Rajesh Bishnoi (26) made another 53 in a seventh wicket partnership but Meghalaya were well behind the required run rate by this point.
In the end, the team were all out for 129 in 40.3 overs. Meghalaya will next play Rajasthan on Monday.
