An urban health and wellness centres was inaugurated at Babukona and Bangalmur in Resubelpara, North Garo Hills district today by Deputy Speaker and Resubelpara MLA, Timothy D Shira.
Addressing the gathering Shira said the centres would cater basic health care services to the people, provide treatment, medicines thereby enabling beneficiaries to have timely and quality health care services in their vicinity.
He lauded the DM&HO for her pro-activeness in following up with the scheme and identifying locations for setting up the centres keeping in mind the primary need of the urban people. He also sought coordination from all stakeholders for their proper functioning and effectiveness.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kapil Koch highlighted various central and state health schemes and urged people to make use of the institutional health care services.
DM&HO, Dr Sombari Boro in her speech stated that the functioning of the centres would leverage OPD services, Antenatal care, immunization, screening and treatment of non communicable diseases and services of tele-consultation. Wellness focused activity such as yoga would also be provided at the centre.
Dr. Boro informed that each centres will have a medical officer, staff nurse and ANM.
The Head Sordars of Babukona and Bangalmura were among others who spoke during the event.
