East Khasi Hills police arrested seven person accused of stealing bikes and recovered four stolen two-wheelers.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger the arrest was made possible when police was police investigating a case about a stolen RS bike (ML-05-P-6045) from Umlympung in 12 Mile, Mylliem on July 15.
Based on source information, a trap was laid where three persons were arrested from Amlarem while the stolen bike was recovered from Padu village, near there, Nongtnger said. Another three persons involved in the case were also arrested from Pynursla, he added.
During interrogation a Pulsar 150 bike was then recovered from Amlarem and another Pulsar 220 was recovered from Pynursla without any number plates. The SP said the bikes were ascertained to be stolen from Amlarem and Pynursla.
Police also arrested one accused from Shallang in West Khasi Hills and recovered another a bike Pulsar 150 cc (ML 05-V-0993) stolen from Lower Harisabha, Laban on Jul 25.
The SP said an Alto 800 bearing registration number AS 01 DH 2009 used in the crime has also been seized.
Names of the arrested persons were not revealed but the SP said more accused involved are still on the run and efforts are on to nab them.
