Shillong, Oct 25: As part of the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0 of the Government of India, Mihir Kumar Jha, Under Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi visited various offices of the Ministry in Meghalaya, including Doordarshan Kendra (DDK), All India Radio (AIR), Press Information Bureau (PIB), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) and Regional Academy of Broadcasting & Multimedia in Shillong on Friday.
The visit aimed to assess the progress made under the campaign and to encourage best practices in workplace management, cleanliness and governance.
During the inspection, Jha reviewed the implementation of several key components of the campaign, including cleanliness drives, scrap disposal, record digitization through e-Office, optimal utilisation of office spaces and improvement in grievance redressal mechanisms.
He interacted with officers and staff of all four MIB units, commending their efforts in aligning local initiatives with the broader goals of efficiency, transparency and sustainable administration.
Under Special Campaign 5.0, the Shillong offices have taken proactive steps such as; effective scrap disposal and removal of obsolete materials to free up space, transition to e-Office systems for improved file management, transparency and paperless operations, reorganization and beautification of office spaces for better functionality and aesthetics, and plantation drives under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.
Jha appreciated the commendable participation of DDK and AIR in maintaining clean and eco-friendly premises, PIB for its systematic record management and documentation, and CBC for its public outreach efforts to spread awareness about cleanliness, environmental sustainability, and government initiatives.
The Special Campaign 5.0 focuses on cleanliness, record management, reducing pendency and improving public service delivery across all government offices.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has been actively implementing the campaign through its regional and field units, ensuring that the vision of the Special Campaign 5.0 is met to its true spirit.
The visit concluded with a review meeting involving senior officials of DDK, AIR, PIB, and CBC Shillong, where best practices and future action plans were discussed to maintain the positive momentum achieved under the campaign.
