UGC norms will be applicable in the Captain Williamson Sangma State University.
This was decided today by the State Meghalaya Cabinet today while also passing an ordinance to amend the Captain Williamson Sangma State University Act.
The amendment was being done to incorporate certain UGC norms for the university.
“The amendment was cleared in terms of an ordinance today to put in the UGC norms,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told media persons.
Some of the UGC norms incorporated in the amendment included the Board of Governors, the actual structure of the Board of Governors as prescribed by the UGC, the Board of Management as prescribed by the UGC norms and other small changes which are required as per the UGC rules and regulations.
The chief minister added that work for setting up of the university campus has already started and that the main intention is to start courses by next academic year.
