The United Democratic Party (UDP) has decided to authorise a core committee to incorporate observations made by its members on the reservation policy and the roster system.
The views and suggestions were made at the central executive committee meeting of the party today.
UDP leader Jemino Mawtoh told reporters after the meeting that the core committee will include all the views and suggestions made to be submitted to the committee of all political parties.
“In another 2-3 days, we will fine tune the observations that we have made and also make it public,” he said.
Mawtoh said that the party had included review of the reservation policy in its election manifesto and had over 13 meetings to discuss on the matter.
He said the party had deliberated with legal experts, scholars and social scientists on the reservation policy and hoped that any decision made will be non-discriminatory to any community in the State.
Meanwhile, Mawthoh informed that the party has decided to hold its general council on July 29.
