The United Democratic Party (UDP) celebrated its 27th foundation day today and resolved to rekindle regional aspirations.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said that the party would like to continue the legacy and would rekindle the flame of the parent body the All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC), which spearheaded the Hill state movement.
Reminding that the UDP is the oldest regional party, he said, “We will continue to work for the betterment of the people of the state based on the strong foundation and principles which are being followed, initiated, and started by our leaders.”
During the celebrations, the leaders of the party paid tributes to former chief ministers of the, EK Mawlong, BB Lyngdoh and other leaders for their contribution in shaping the party and the State.
Meanwhile, the youth wing of the party visited two children’s shelter homes, Dream Home and Lawei Ba Phyrnai, and distributed food items.
A football match was conducted to mark the celebration.
The programme was attended by all the MLAs and MDCs of the party.
