Following the recent statement made by VPP MLA Adelbert Nongrum that the advertisement for the various posts in the Meghalaya police is illegal, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today countered Nongrum’s claim and said that the MLA did not go through the details of the office memorandum and may have read only the first paragraph.
“He left out the last paragraph which has clearly indicated that the office memorandum will not be applicable to a few government departments like Home (Police), Forest and Environment, Excise and few other departments. We thought of doing so because there are such posts where the applicants if the age is relaxed, then it will be difficult because in the police force they have to be physically fit,” Tynsong said.
According to him, the State cabinet had unanimously decided to approve the proposal by the Central Recruitment Board of Police Department regarding the age limit of applicants as per the details made in the last advertisement.
He added that the age limit was approved after judiciously consulting with other counterparts in the country. “We found out that this is the right age limit to the police force in Meghalaya Police Department,” he said.
Tynsong further urged the youth both males and females, not to be misinformed and that they should be ready to go for online application.
“Right now we are still seeking clearance from the Election Commission. Once this is cleared and approved we will again inform all concerned to start their online application. This online application is proposed to end by May 31,” he mentioned.
