East Khasi Hills police today arrested two history sheeters and a juvenile near Lawmali bridge with drugs.
Police recovered 2.10 grams heroin, eight Nitrazepam tablets, two Spasmo proxyvon tablets, 10 IV syringes, 66 vials containing residues of heroin, six mobile phone, a butcher knife, ten tobacco tins, a damaged mobile phone and Rs 9,710 cash.
While the identity of the arrested persons has not been revealed by the police, Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem said, the duo and the minor boy were sitting inside a black colour Hyundai i20 bearing registration number AS01 AT0888 at around 11:30 am.
He said the juvenile is the son of one of the accused.
A scooty bearing registration number ML05 R 8293, which was found nearby, belonging to one of the accused person, he said.
It may be mentioned that loitering around the graveyard and forest areas of Lawmali has been banned.
Meghalaya police together with the rangbah shnongs of five localities adjacent to the area had taken the decision last year, to curb the rampant illegal activities inside and around the graveyard and forest areas, which has become a matter of concern for the residents.
The meeting had decided that those involved in illegal activities at night in and around the area or found consuming alcohol or drugs inside vehicles by the roadside will be booked under Section 110 of Meghalaya Police Act and the NDPS Act, as the case may be.
