Amid the election heat, the war of words between political parties continues in the State.
Following the recent statement by the NPP criticizing the Trinamool Congress’ farmers initiative, the latter hit back by terming NPP as a “party of magicians and looters” and without any long term goals.
“The MDA government under the leadership of the NPP has sought to buy people with piglets, chicken and money which are nothing short of abrupt coercion and fooling the voters,” said Dominic S.Wankhar, the East Khasi Hills district coordinator of Trinamool Congress.
Wankhar also slammed NPP spokesperson Bajop Pyngrope by asking him to clarify on the value of his party.
“Let the NPP spokesperson know that his party had been ridiculed none other by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who while campaigning at a BJP election at Moirang in Manipur in 2022 had said that NPP is a party with no value and people should not vote for such a party,” Wankhar said.
“If the very ally of the NPP can say such things in front of full public glare, perhaps the people across Meghalaya should understand the value of the NPP leadership,” he added.
Wankhar said that only through voting for the right form of candidates of the Trinamool Congress can emit an interest in public discourse and politics in society.
“We should not forget the last five years had been marred by controversies, violence, intimidation, coercion and fooling people with imaginary dreams,” he added.
Wankhar also flayed State BJP president Earnest Mawrie for passing “irresponsible comments” on the various initiatives of the Trinamool Congress.
Asking Mawrie to set his house in order before passing any comments, Wankhar said, “Perhaps Mawrie needs to be reminded of the promise made by BJP leader Nitin Kohli to reopen legal mining in 185 days. So was that a promise or a bluff made by his party and which is why the illegal transportation of coal goes on unabated which he knows very well.”
