The office of the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC Shillong) is conducting a two-day zonal level programme on ‘An Integrative Approach – New Trends in Disability Rehabilitation’, which began today.
The programme is being held in collaboration with the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan) and the central government’s Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
Altogether 88 rehabilitation professionals across the North East are going to attend the programme, which will be significant in the realm of persons with disabilities (PwDs). PwDs often require specialised care, interventions and support to enhance their quality of life and enable them to participate fully in society. This training programme will ensure that professionals working in the field are equipped with the knowledge, skills and empathy needed to provide effective and holistic care.
Today’s events were chaired by Director of Social Welfare and Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Camelia Doreen Lyngwa, Assistant Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities R Passah and architect from the office of the Chief Engineer Dianghunlang Chyne. The resource persons from the CRC Shillong were Ram Shakal Sahani, Pranami Barua and Rajesh Chettri.
