Social activist and youth leader Khroo Lamsalanki Pariat announced his decision to contest the upcoming election to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) from the Jowai North constituency.
A resident of Tympang Iawmusiang Jowai, the youth leader has been at the forefront to campaign for a clean Myntdu river and fought for the rights of the muster roll, daily wage workers including mid day meal cooks and others.
Speaking to reporters today he said offers had come from big political parties but chose to run the elections as an independent based on the people’s decision. He highlighted that his priority would be to strengthen and protect the rights of the indigenous community.
