The District Disaster Management Authority of East Garo Hills has informed that the first phase of a 12-day training programme for upscaling 100 Aapda Mitra volunteers will be held from June 15 to 18 at the DRDA Hall in Williamnagar.
The training programme will be held in collaboration with the police, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Service, medical mobile unit, etc.
Forty volunteers will attend the first phase and the remaining 60 the second and third phases in the coming months, a press release stated.
The aim of the training is to provide the community volunteers with the skills that they would need to respond to immediate requirements in the aftermath of disaster thereby enabling them to undertake basic relief and rescue tasks.
