Shillong, Feb 28: The West Jaintia Hills Superintendent of Police has implemented immediate traffic measures to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety in Jowai.
The measures were adopted after multiple complaints from the public regarding traffic congestion along the stretch from HK Singh Tri Junction to Mission Compound and onwards to Meghalaya Studio, especially during school hours.
In a press statement, the SP informed that vehicles will not be allowed to enter from HK Singh Tri Junction towards Mission Compound between 7:30 am to 9 am and 2:30 pm to 4 pm. Parking is also prohibited on both sides of the road from 7 am to 7 pm.
The stretch from Mission Compound to Meghalaya Studio shall also remain a No Roadside Parking Zone (both sides) from 7 am to 7 pm.
The SP has urged the public to cooperate with the traffic authorities and adhere to the regulations and warned violators of action.
