Shillong, Feb 28: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar will be on a three-day official visit to the state from March 1 to March 3, to review programmes and interact with stakeholders across East Khasi Hills district.
The Union Minister will chair a programme at the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE), Shillong on March 1, to review its activities and interact with officials and beneficiaries.
During his tour, Dr. Kumar will also visit select educational institutions, health facilities, de-addiction centres, child care institutions and community projects in East Khasi Hills district.
A district review meeting will also be held to assess the implementation of schemes of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and related welfare initiatives in the State.
The visit is aimed at reviewing the functioning of the Centre and its ongoing initiatives for skill development, rehabilitation and empowerment of persons with disabilities in the region.
