Traffic jam in Shillong is turning into a crisis and this is because there has been no sincere effort from any quarters to address it, United Democratic Party (UDP) general secretary, Jemino Mawthoh said.
“In the absence of proper planning, I think we are heading for a collapse. I feel sorry for the traffic policemen who are trying their best to regulate traffic flow every day,” he said.
While stressing on the need for a multi-pronged approach to ease traffic congestion in the city he also said that different government departments need to be synchronized and put forth a a proper plan to address the problem.
The traffic jams has led to loss of time and it impact is being felt by all the citizens, he added.
