The Meghalaya Joint Council of Trade Unions and Associations (MJCTU&A), the apex body of all trade unions and associations in the state, in its meeting on October 30, decided a hold a demonstration against “exorbitant price rise, unprecedented continuous increase in fuel prices, harassment of commuters due to lack of public transport and utter neglect of grievances of the common people”.
The protest against the state and central government policies will be held on November 3 by the MJCTU&A and All India Trade Union Congress from 12:30pm at the latter’s office in Quinton Road here.
The two bodies have also decided to submit a joint memorandum to the Chief Secretary on the issues raised.
“All unions, associations and members of the general public are requested to take part in the programme and raise a unified voice against the relentless attack on the life and living of the common people,” a press release from the MJCTU&A said today.
